Today’s Friday the 13th—a day that has become synonymous with misfortune.

There are few superstitions as pervasive in Western culture as Friday the 13th. It’s a day when some people make it more of a point to avoid crossing paths with a black cat, breaking a mirror, or walking underneath a ladder.

Check out this Los Angeles Times article discussing some superstitions that lawyers have, like wearing a Batman watch in front of a jury and dropping “success oil” near the jury box to influence a verdict.
